When I was first learning to grow, someone I met online was kind enough to shepherd me as best he could. Since we had a large geographical distance between us, it was easiest for me to match his nutrient brands etc. It just made troubleshooting easier.
Years and years later I am still using the same line-up and am wondering if I am missing out.

I had good results with GH powdered Maxi line. For new run I switched to Canna liquid A,B and additives. The powders get soggy in my humid climate, it’s hard to get a good seal.
It’s trial and error. I just switched my nutrient line a year ago and man am I glad. Normally i’ve been using organic dry nutrients but for salt runs have switched to crop salts. Try a side by side run of something else unless you’re very happy with the product, I wouldn’t change a thing. You most likely have her dialed in, right?
Awesome, I went down the same road. In the beginning started with Fox Farm soil and nutrients, followed the product labels and had really good results.
In an effort to reduce the amount of time devoted to plants I decided to automate the process. Found a local guy willing to share his set up who used MegaCrop 1 part so I ran with it for several years finding it very easy to use with great results.
I did switch to the MegaCrop 2 part which I feel gave me better mix since I only weigh about 40-50 grams for each reservoir fill.
Much like yourself I also wondered if I was missing out, so I went all in on another nutrient line and ran it for a year. I didn’t struggle much and still had great results but found having to manage all the extra additive’s to be a pain and seemed like I was always running out of something.
Last fall I purchased another round of the MegaCrop 2 part and have switched back to running just the base mix, nothing else and feel happy with the results and final product. You can check out the Shiskaberry x Tahoe OG grow, was fed with the 2 part base mix with no other additives.
I’ve used a variety of nutrients with pretty similar results. Further just 5 grows in dirt I’ve been using grow dots and recharge. I switched to this out f necessity to keep me in the garden as little as possible. With three kids a wife two cats and two jobs any time saved makes a huge difference in my life. I’m sure I could get better if I invested more time and effort but I am overly happy with what I’m be been growing. Just my two cents.
I use nothing but organic nutrients , some I make myself, compost teas, earthworms castings, alfalfa kelp tea, superthrive, if you want something pre-mixed advanced nutrients organic line is killer. The absolute best tasting weed is organic, no contest. Killer terps!!! These are just few things I use. If people are interested I’ll post some recipes. Be warned some of these thing stink pretty bad and if you get any in your mouth you will be sick as a dog!
I have it dialed in the sense that i know how to ramp them up and down etc. However since I do every run from seed and almost never the same strain it is kind of a shit show.
I’ve used Happy Frog and Ocean Forest with Mega Crop and had no issues with either. When using soil I did add perlite, vermiculite, and worm castings to the starting mix then ammended the top inch with worm castings again a few times throughout the grow.
@Tnunn with my current set up It will run unattended for 4-5 days which works well since I travel often for work. I do like the idea of grow dots and just Ph’d water.
Currently MegaCrop 2 part - just mixing the single tank recommended ratio on the bag to 10 gallons water then add additional fresh water until EC 2.2-2.3 (flower) EC 1.6-1.8 (veg)
Both veg and flower space feed from a 20-gallon reservoir, flower typically last 5-6 days, veg goes much longer.
I prefer to use mother earth coco blocks and flora flex nutrients are my favorite to use so far. I use to use fox farm soil but to many bug issues with there soil in my area.
