Invasive beetles

Hey, last year we got hit hard with these knock off lady bugs, some mass migration from Maine

So here we are spring time and holy shit there are millions of them.
Anyone dealt with these guys?
Other than being a pain in the ass are they going to cause any harm? We usually have a few lady bugs or beetles…but I’ve never seen them this bad.

Years ago I was working in my basement and found a mass of the Japanese beetles about the size of a basketball in a corner of my basement. They came in to over winter. I was told they do that, always kinda weirded me out and I’m not afraid of bugs.

Ha beetle balls! I completely understand your feeling- this feels like a scanner darkly nightmare… they just keep coming out of the cracks :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi,
Via the link you shared,

it says they eat aphids, etc. So they’re free beneficial insects. Bad news for the local lady beetles, but good news for you. They’ll likely starve or work their way back outside as the weather warms up.
