Flush or not to flush is the topic

Good morning guys /gals

I’ve been working with a buddy and he’s on this kick says no need for end of flower flush he says plant automatically stops feeding?

What’s every one’s opinion? I’d love to hear what Colin’s opinion is?

I’ve always been a 14 day flush guy.

:joy: this is like the ultimate forum debate that has been done over and over….

I’m going to answer with flush with no further introspect into my answer as I’m a true believer in flush salty mediums.

Some companies like Crop Salts have products like “Cake” that allow you to dose your plants 2ish weeks until harvest. I have used this product line but never done a side by side to compare.

I no longer salt grow but still do just water at the end of my grows. I’ve had bad buildup using a so called organic “cal mag” that caused my ash to turn black and I couldn’t keep it lit.

The only way to answer your question is to do a side by side comparison of the same plant. Like my answer, everyone has their own opinions…

I think it depends on what nutes and how you’re using them. The one research paper on it showed better results with no flush, but that may mean that the amount they’re feeding is just right. Flush fanciers may be overfeeding and getting better results with a flush. And some varieties taste more green than others, so starving them of nitrogen at the end may make em taste better.

I’m using cake currently as I wrap up a run. I Ran the same genetics as last run so I will report back on any differences.

Haven’t done a flush in years. I tent grow with coco, use aeroponics for clones and early veg (that supplies the tent and DWC system) and DWC with another flowering workflow.

No discernible impact on ash color. I’ve had dark ash and white ash with and without flushing. I’m not a scientist, but I believe that has more to do with drying and curing practices and making sure you’re hitting proper active water content (~0.6 aW).

But you can change my mind, I’m always willing to learn.

I run a coco drip system and I always flush with water for at the most a week. I have noticed better flavor and less harshness in the smoke by doing flush’s. But everyone has their opinion on this topic I just do what works best for me !
